The Proposed Location Of The Transitional Housing Center

Supervisor Bob Buster is proposing the construction of an approximately 110 unit shelter on a currently vacant parcel on the South East corner of Mission Trail and Canyon Drive. The project will receive financial assistance from the Riverside County Redevelopment Agency. The development has also been called a homeless shelter, permanent housing, and supportive housing. It's intended residents are the homeless and single parent low income families according to a County official. Owners and investors have at this point not been made public.

2/24/2007 3:45:54 PM   X   Rosanne.K  Wildomar  No one is saying there shouldn't be low-income housing in Wildomar. We are saying the location for the housing is not good for the housing residents, it offers no employment in the area, no services, etc. The MAC and EDA have called it a homeless shelter from the beginning and at the last public forum just starting to use the name "low-income housing". I hope they didn't find a name that will settle with the Wildomar residents and keep them quiet. No matter what the the EDA and MAC call it...it's going to be a homeless shelter and that is a far cry from low-income housing. The comcepts are completely different both in required services and its impact on its neighbors. A homeless shelter means TROUBLE. Since Wildomar has no homless problem, wildomar should not have to deal with this burden. We all know it does. We have seen it ruin other communities. I am also hoping my community has not gone back to sleep on this issue. The proposed location for this project is all wrong and the TRUE purpose of the project means trouble for the grade school children and elderly in the proposed area.
2/24/2007 2:07:31 PM  X    Isaidqed.D  Wildomar  It's time to teach our children that not everyone in the world can live in $500,000 homes and drive $50,000 cars. That the poor are NOT diseased, and even if they were they are still people and should be treated as such. That when they fall there will be a kind hand to help them up. That there is more to life then having a name on the back of your pants and the newest high tech toy.
2/18/2007 11:23:48 PM  X    Melinda.D  Murrieta  I am shocked at the responces that I am reading from citizens of this area. Homeless people are not the scums of society. They are human beings that are in need of shelter and food. Do you kow that over 50% of all homless people are people who suffer from a mental illness and were unable to recieve treatment due to lack of funding to free clinics. To say "Build a place in Death Vally for them!!" is inhumane and cruel. I hope that none of the people writing such cruel comments will never have the misfortune of being homeless nor having someone they love end up with such a cruel fate. Open your eyes and look around you, this are people who need help and all others can think about is how is this going to affect my property!

2/8/2007 8:43:59 AM   X   Cori.L  Wildomar  WE moved to Wildomar in hopes the community will get cleaned up. WE spent $550,000 on a house I DO NOT want a homeless shelter put in. We don't have a homeless problem move it somewhere where they can have public transportation and support- NOT HERE!!
2/8/2007 8:38:26 AM   X   Christina.B  Wildomar  There are so many other places that better serve the homeless. A larger community where there are more jobs to be offered, and even within walking distance. This site can not offer that.
2/7/2007 9:31:35 PM   X   M.L  Wildomar  So much for the property value of the home I just purchased. Thanks to my elected officials...
2/7/2007 5:59:23 PM   X   Courtney.K  Wildomar  I chose to live here because it was a safe environment for my family. This development will endanger our community.

2/6/2007 5:08:23 PM   X   Ann.G  Lake Elsinore  Are you kidding me? No way is this a good idea. What is our local government thinking? We are not set up for any of this and who will pay for this? We will! I don't want my taxes to go up to finance this. Maybe the local government should give up their own homes and properties to this project and let them finance it all on their own. It is not a good idea at all. I am 100% against it.

2/5/2007 9:40:18 PM   X   Tim.W  Canyon Lake  so much for the bloody school board. they're all for it; typical communistic tendencies.
2/5/2007 4:06:32 PM   X   William.W  Wildomar  This is a dangerous proposition for the residents of Widlomar. Wildomar does not have the infrastructure to support a homeless shelter; this project needs to be located in a large city that can provide adequate police and fire protection. Let's face it, many of the homeless are mentally challenged and/or have emotional problems. Who is going to protect the residents of Wildomar, especially the children?
2/2/2007 5:02:02 PM   X   Jeremy.R  Wildomar  keep them out of here

2/2/2007 9:42:30 AM   X   Amber.H  Wildomar  This is crazy!!! Half of homeless people are out on the street because of using drugs or alcohol. Why on earth would you stick those kind of people in with single parent homes?...Just doesn't look right, or safe!
